ring trays |
|
|
The MSC guys were showing me their cases this weekend and they use jewler's ring display trays to hold their figures in place. I ordered a couple off of ebay for $16. We'll see when they come in how they work, but if all is good I should have some extra for sale. I'll chime in here when they come in and let you know.

Any idea what the blank size is before you start cutting on them??? If this works I would like to try it and will probably need to redesign my case internally....

bought site unseen huh??? Hopefully you don't get them all for ring size boxes!! That could be cool though, you open 1 case for every player before a match!! Think of the graphics Jeff could come up with to personalize each guy...
"Hate' deserves his own box anyway....

I know they hold 72 rings each, but I don't know what size they are. I think it was in the description on ebay, but I need to see them to see how they are arranged.

I just did a search on e-bay for 72 ring holder and found it I think. Does the one you bought have the spongy foam 1/2" thick with the felt top??? That is really nice looking and would work perfectly with almost no work at all!!!
6 rows of 12 is perfect for the 11 players plus spare goalkeeper....
This was the description of the item
This is a new set of 2 black foam ring display tray insert pads that hold 72 rings each
The top of the foam pads are black felt
At shows these are great for showing your sample line display
These trays are fantastic for travel by keeping the rings organized
Easily remove the tray from the showcase to allow customers to view your jewelry from the countertop
Each measures approximately 14 1/4" x 7 3/4" x 1/2" (36.1 cm x 19.6 cm x 12 mm)

The ring trays came in today. I haven't cut them to fit my case, but I put some players in so you can see how they fit. They are the exact ones that Darren described above. 1/2" thick foam with black felt on top. 6 rows of 12. They are spaced just far enough apart to put teams in adjacent rows. I'll have to trim it down to fit in my case, but it should work fine.
I have one extra tray. $5 to the first SLSL member who claims it here.

I caved an ordered some as well. I got 4 trays exactly like Brads I believe.
The slots are "maybe" a hair too small when brand new but once you put the players in them they seem to take the shape of the base and then become perfect without having to do anything at all.
They are really nice.....
I will probably have 2 sets for sale as well but I need to cut some into the shape first and make sure I don't screw something up.

I like that. Kinda takes me back to my days in miniature wargaming . (troops in ranks, that sort of thing).

Found a good use for the 100's of old Hasbro bases I have.....I just filled all the holes on the ring trays with bases ( no figures ) and will leave them sit for a few days to let them stretch the foam slightly. So far these look like a really nice option for holding players in a case....
too bad they don't come in colors!
