Edit: I just re-read the rules, and the kit below is one of my own design. It doesn't depict a real world team. So I guess he's disqualified!

Yes, Jon, he's not eligible for this contest. We are planning on having a contest in the future for custom designed kits that will be perfect for Maple City. If you've painted any others that are based on real world teams please feel free to enter those.

Patrick Madigan from the St. Louis area submitted this entry. Newcastle United. (reminds me a bit of a good looking guy who won the best dressed trophy at the SLSL Newcastle Supporters Cup)

New Entry:

This is from Jim in Pittsburgh. A little NASL flavor to our contest. 1984 Chicago Sting. Possibly the oldest entry, Jim painted this one in 1985. Very nice old school work. Jim checks our forum regularly so feel free to ask him any questions.

I asked Larry Fryer to send a close-up of his USA kit. I had some people question whether it was decals or painted. This photo clearly shows that the details of the kit are hand painted. Thanks for submitting this close-up pic, Larry.

Just a few more days left to submit entries. So far there have been surprisingly few. Crying or Very sad

A close-up of Ioug's entry- ParisFC. The earlier photo was too small to see how good this team looks. Very nice kit.

Here's the US kit from 2000. The painting here is pretty minimal, but I think part of the reason for the competition was just to see some cool work from different people. Every stripe, badge, logo, number, and collar on these is a decal.

Excellent work Jon. I'm glad you posted because you are exactly right, this thread is to show off American work in general. Also, the quality of decals you've done is impressive in it's own right. Anybody who's worked with decals will appreciate what you've done with the fine lines, stripes, collars, etc. Simply awesome.

First attempt at painting for Subbuteo.. figured I'd pick a home team.

I don't think I'm going to attempt the numbering, since I can't find a roster for that year, and I think I'd muck it up. (oh, and the black base has been photoshopped - don't have my real bases yet)

Picture of real team here: http://home.att.net/~naslpics/teampics/83_blizzard.jpg

I'll echo Cakeboy's praise, Bostich. Why not share with us who you are and where you're located. I assume you're up in the Great White North? Excellent work on the team.

The contest will close tonight at midnight. While we didn't have a lot of entries, we made up for it in quality. It will be hard to pick a winner. There's still time for a late entry, but so far I'm very impressed with the submissions.

Thanks for the praise Smile I have to say when I first saw how small these little guys are my appreciation for the already excellent paint jobs I've seen went way up.

Here's a close-up of 2 players:

You can see better there that the badges are painted.

As for me, my name is John Fairley from Toronto, ON Canada. I only just discovered Subbuteo a little while ago. I'm a member of a Boardgaming group here in Toronto (TABS) and we play just about anything that goes on a table.

A last minute entry came in my email last night. Wayne Smith of the SoCal Subbuteo Club has submitted his Werder Bremen (of course Wink ) team seen below.
